How to Read Your PSL Report
A PSL score is easier to understand alongside the observations behind it. This sample shows where to find the overall score, four dimensions, strengths, advice, and photo limitations before you try the test.
Illustrative report. AI-generated portrait and example scores; not a real assessment.

Example overall score
5.5/ 8
High Tier Normie
The overall score summarizes a subjective impression of the visible photo. The four dimension scores organize separate observations; the total is not their simple average or a fixed weighted formula.
Example dimension scores
- Overall harmony5.6 / 8
- Read how the visible features fit together. A frontal view makes their relationships easier to describe.
- Apparent symmetry5.3 / 8
- Check the observation as well as the number. A level pose makes the two sides easier to compare.
- Facial contours5.1 / 8
- Look for the stated limits. Frontal lighting alone cannot show every angle of the jaw and chin.
- Facial features5.7 / 8
- Read which details are visible. Unobstructed eyes, nose, and mouth give the explanation more context.
Example strengths
- The face is unobstructed, so individual features can be described.
- Even lighting keeps detail visible on both sides of the face.
Example priority advice
Keep the camera at eye level and use similar lighting if you choose to take another photo. This makes the photo conditions easier to compare.
Example limitation
One frontal image does not show every angle or your appearance in motion. These sample observations demonstrate how to read the report; they are not findings from an assessment.
Start with the explanation, then read the numbers
Read strengths and priority advice together with the limitations. If a detail is hidden or unclear, treat that part of the explanation cautiously rather than inferring it from a decimal score.
The free basic report includes the score, dimension feedback, strengths, a priority suggestion, and limitations. A full report expands the same saved scores with more explanation; questionnaire answers personalize the advice. Unlocking it does not rescore your photo.

The PSL scale is an informal facial attractiveness rating system used in looksmaxxing communities on TikTok, Reddit, and Discord. It describes how facial proportions, balance, and features contribute to perceived attractiveness, often in the context of dating.
Four core dimensions
- Overall harmony Looks at how the visible features and proportions fit together. Camera distance and perspective can change those apparent relationships.
- Apparent symmetry Describes the apparent balance between the two sides of the face, not a clinical measurement. The photo angle, head tilt, and uneven light can make the sides look different.
- Facial contours Considers the visible outline of the cheeks, jaw, and chin. Shadows, cropping, and a single frontal view limit what can be observed.
- Facial features Describes visible details of the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth in context. Expression, blur, hair, or filters can hide or alter those details.
Our AI feedback uses these four dimensions to explain what contributes to your score. It is a subjective estimate of visible appearance in one photo. The overall score is estimated separately, not calculated from fixed weights or a simple average of the four scores. Unclear details should be read alongside the report’s limitations.

PSL Scale Rating Tiers
Explore score ranges and community tier names to understand what different PSL scores mean.
| Score range | Tier | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 7.75–8 | True Adam / Eve | The theoretical top tier in this reference, representing idealized facial harmony. |
| 6.5–7.75 | Chad / Stacy | Very high overall harmony, with several prominent facial features. |
| 6–6.5 | Chadlite / Stacylite | Often used for a model-like appearance with strong overall appeal. |
| 5–6 | High Tier Normie | Above the middle range, with some prominent facial features. |
| 3.5–5 | Mid Tier Normie | The middle tier, commonly used to describe an ordinary, everyday appearance. |
| 2–3.5 | Low Tier Normie | A lower tier in this reference, with comparatively weaker overall facial harmony. |
| 0–2 | Very Low Range | The lowest score band in this reference. |
This table presents one community tier reference; score boundaries vary across platforms.
At a boundary, the score belongs to the higher tier; 8 is included in the top tier.
What Does Your PSL Score Mean?
- 4
- Mid Tier Normie
- 5
- High Tier Normie
- 5.5
- High Tier Normie
- 6
- Chadlite / Stacylite
On pslscale.pro, 5 and 5.5 are in the High Tier Normie band, above the middle band in our displayed reference. A score of 6 starts the Chadlite / Stacylite band. These labels do not establish a population percentile.
Is 5 PSL good, and what is an average PSL score? Here, “good” can only describe a position within this reference. We have not established a representative population average. The middle band in our table is a display convention, not a measured average of everyone. A score does not measure your worth or predict how others will respond to you.
Common PSL Tier Terms
- LTN — Low Tier Normie
- Community shorthand for the lower Normie band in this reference.
- MTN — Mid Tier Normie
- Community shorthand for the middle Normie band, not a statistical population average.
- HTN — High Tier Normie
- Community shorthand for the higher Normie band; its boundaries may differ on another site.
Chad, Stacy, Chadlite, Stacylite, and True Adam / Eve are community labels. Their paired names do not define separate male and female scoring formulas, and these terms are not scientific classifications.
PSL Scale vs. a 1–10 Rating
| Aspect | PSL on this site | Informal 1–10 rating |
|---|---|---|
| Range | 0–8, with the seven displayed tiers. | 1–10, with no single shared set of tier names. |
| Basis | An AI impression of one photo, organized into four dimensions and limitations. | Depends on the person or tool; criteria may be unstated. |
| Across tools | Check the scale and tier boundaries before comparing results. | The same number can express a different judgment. |
There is no validated conversion between these conventions. Multiplying an 8-point score to put it on a 10-point scale does not make the underlying judgments equivalent.
How to Take a Photo for a PSL Test
Use one clear photo that makes your face easy to see. These preparation steps improve the information available in the image; they do not promise a higher score.
Face forward
Keep your head naturally level. Turning or tilting it changes apparent proportions and symmetry.
Keep the camera near eye level
Avoid a steep angle or a very close lens. Use a comfortable distance without stretching toward the camera.
Use even light
Let both sides of your face receive soft light. Strong side light or backlighting can hide detail.
Include the whole face
Keep your forehead and chin in the frame, with your eyes visible. Move hair or accessories that cover key features.
Relax your expression
Choose a comfortable, natural expression. Keep it similar when comparing photos because smiling or tensing can change visible contours.
Use a clear, unfiltered original
Turn off appearance-changing filters and avoid heavily edited or blurry copies. Check that only one face is visible.
AI-generated lighting illustrations; not a test of scoring accuracy.

Can I use a selfie?
Yes, if it is clear, frontal, and unobstructed. Avoid holding the camera extremely close or at a strong angle; both can change apparent proportions. Use the same basic setup if you later retake it.
Should I smile?
A relaxed, natural expression is useful. You do not need to force a smile or tighten your jaw. If you compare photos, keep the expression similar so you can distinguish a photo change from a scoring difference.
Do filters affect the result?
Filters that reshape features, smooth detail, or alter shadows change what the AI can see. A filtered result describes that altered image. Use the original photo when you want feedback on its visible appearance.
If the photo is severely blurred, contains multiple faces, or hides key features, take a clearer single-face photo before trying again.
Use your photo in the PSL testWhy Can Your PSL Score Change?
A different number does not automatically mean your appearance changed. Start by checking what was different about the photo, the tool, or the assessment.
Different photos of the same person
Pose, distance, light, expression, cropping, and filters can change the visible evidence. Compare the photos side by side and look for those differences before interpreting the scores. Retake the photo if important detail is hidden.
Different PSL calculators
Tools may use different ranges, criteria, tier boundaries, and models. Check whether both scores use the same scale and read each explanation. Averaging unrelated tool scores does not produce a verified “true” rating.
The same photo tested again
Generative judgments, configuration, or model versions can vary between assessments. We do not publish a validated repeat-test error range or promise the same score on every rerun. Reopening a saved report keeps its saved scores; unlocking the full report expands them without rescoring.
How accurate is an AI PSL rating?
It is a subjective reference for the visible appearance in one photo, not a validated measurement of objective attractiveness, population rank, or real-life relationships. Use the explanation to understand what the tool noticed and what it could not judge. A decimal score alone cannot tell you how reliable that judgment is.
Before you interpret a score difference
- Check the photo: is the face clear, evenly lit, and shown under comparable conditions?
- Check the scale and tool: do the range and tier definitions match?
- Read the observations and limitations: do they explain the difference, or is a clearer photo needed?
FAQs
PSL Scale FAQ
The PSL Scale is an informal rating framework used by online communities that discuss appearance. It describes appearance through visible features such as facial proportions and contours. Ratings reflect subjective aesthetic preferences and are for reference only.

Our four perspectives are Overall harmony (how visible proportions and features work together), Apparent symmetry (visual balance, which is affected by photo angle), Facial contours (the visible face outline and jaw), and Facial features (eyes, brows, nose, and lips). These categories organize our product’s feedback; they are not an official, universal PSL classification.
Hairstyle, grooming, and how you appear in a photo may affect the assessment, but no particular score increase can be guaranteed. Focus on changes that suit you rather than only pursuing a higher number.
Mewing generally means adjusting tongue position in an attempt to change the appearance of the jawline. There is currently no reliable evidence supporting claims that it reshapes the jawline, and it cannot be promised to improve a score. Read the American Association of Orthodontists' explanation.
The basic report is free. A full report uses one report from your pack. Packs start at $5.99, with options for 1, 3 or 10 full reports. There is no subscription, and unused reports never expire. Failed generations do not use a report.

A regular 1–10 rating usually expresses an overall impression, while PSL places more emphasis on discussing individual facial features. Scales vary across communities and tools, so scores cannot be directly converted.
A PSL score should not be used as a basis for undergoing surgery. Medical concerns involving teeth, bite, or facial structure should be assessed by a qualified clinician.
An AI score estimates the appearance visible in a photo and is affected by lighting, angle, expression, and image quality.
Results reflect model and aesthetic preferences and should not be treated as an objective conclusion.
The basic report includes a reference score, four short perspectives, visible strengths, and one priority suggestion.
The full report uses your questionnaire to add detailed observations and a personalized action plan.
Both keep the same basic scores: answers change the advice, not the rating.
