Cookie and Similar Technologies Policy

How PSL Scale uses cookies and browser storage for report access, preferences, and visit attribution

2026/09/09

1. Introduction

This policy explains how PSL Scale ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies at pslscale.pro (the "Service").

We use these technologies to provide assessment and account access, remember preferences, and understand how visitors reach and use the site. Read this policy together with our Privacy Policy.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files stored on a browser or device. They may be set for a single browsing session or remain until they expire or are deleted.

Similar technologies include:

  • Local storage and session storage, which store settings or state in a browser
  • Pixels and tags, which can record when a page, message, or feature is viewed or used
  • Scripts and software development tools, which enable features, measurement, security, or advertising
  • Device, session, and server-side identifiers, which help recognize a browser, device, session, or request

In this policy, "technologies" refers collectively to cookies and these similar methods.

3. Why We Use These Technologies

Strictly Necessary

These technologies support core functions requested by you and may be necessary to:

  • Authenticate users and maintain sessions
  • Keep anonymous assessments accessible in the same browser
  • Protect accounts, prevent fraud, and secure the Service
  • Route requests and provide requested features
  • Remember temporary state needed to complete an action

Our anonymous assessment cookie (__Host-psl-visitor) lasts for up to 90 days and is renewed when you use the assessment service. Account sessions last for up to 7 days and may be refreshed while you remain active; a session cache lasts for up to 1 hour.

Blocking or clearing these technologies may sign you out or prevent access to assessments that are not linked to your account. Cookie duration does not extend the retention period of your photos or reports.

Preferences and Functionality

When relevant features are used, these technologies may remember:

  • Language and regional preferences
  • Theme, layout, sidebar, or interface choices
  • Assessment navigation, questionnaire progress, and report reading position

Language preferences may be stored in a cookie for up to 400 days and sidebar preferences for up to 7 days. Theme preferences use local storage until changed or cleared. Assessment navigation and reading position use session storage, normally for the life of the browser tab.

Analytics and Performance

We use Plausible to understand website visits and performance. Analytics information helps us identify useful pages, diagnose problems, and improve the Service.

Advertising

If advertising is enabled, advertising providers may use cookies, pixels, scripts, or identifiers to deliver, limit, personalize, and measure advertisements. Depending on the provider, settings, and applicable law, these activities may involve information about your device and activity across websites or services.

Advertising technologies may be set by third parties and may be session-based or persistent.

Attribution

On your first visit, we automatically set a first-party attribution cookie to remember how you reached PSL Scale. It may contain campaign parameters, referral source, landing page, advertising click identifiers, approximate region, language, time zone, and device information.

This cookie lasts for up to 90 days and may be associated with your account when you register. We use it to understand visit sources and improve our website and outreach.

4. First-Party and Third-Party Technologies

First-party technologies are set or controlled by the Service. Third-party technologies are set or controlled by another provider whose service is integrated with the Service.

Third-party technologies are used only when the related integration or feature is enabled. The third party may process information under its own privacy policy, and its retention period may differ from ours.

5. Privacy Choices

Essential technologies support features you request, such as account and report access. Attribution helps us understand visit sources and is separate from these essential functions.

You can manage stored data through browser settings or contact us with privacy requests. Where applicable law requires consent for non-essential technologies, visiting the site alone does not constitute that consent.

6. Managing Technologies

You may manage technologies in several ways:

  • Adjust browser settings to block, limit, or delete cookies
  • Clear local storage, site data, or application data through browser or device settings
  • Use device or platform privacy controls
  • Use controls made available by an analytics or advertising provider, where applicable

Browser and device controls vary. Blocking or deleting technologies may sign you out, reset preferences, or prevent features from working. A choice made in one browser or device may not automatically apply to another.

Some browsers offer "Do Not Track" or similar signals. These do not automatically change the site's cookie behavior; applicable privacy rights remain available.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when technologies, features, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date.

Material changes will receive additional notice or consent where required by applicable law.

8. Contact Us
